7:08 pm - Looking for suggestions for emulators on PSP

Hey guys. I was wondering what would be some good emulators to put on my Slim PSP with 5.50 GEN-D3 CFW on it? I already put NesterJ, Masterboy 2.10, and gpSP-Kai 3.2 and those seem to work all fine and dandy. I was thinking I'd find a SNES, N64 or PS1 emulator (if it's possible) next but there's so many emulators I don't know which ones to choose! O__o

current mood: creative

I seem to have this one problem with emulators that annoys me. Whenever I play games that have overhead views, like Dragon Warrior, Final Fantasy, Star Tropics, etc and I scroll across the screen in any direction I get this weird little line flicker thingy that seems to move upward. It seems to happen regardless of the emulator I use and I don't know exactly what settings I don't know to make that not happen and it messes with my eyes and it drives me crazy. Is there an emulator or an emulator setting I can use to keep that from happening when I play?

I just bought Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistance, however it only had the disc with the main game, the bonus disc with Metal Gear 1 and 2 wasn't included.

Are there any MSX roms of MG1 and 2 that are translated and updated with the text and graphics of the version released for Subsistance?

I have an R4 card for my DS, and I wanna put an NES emulator on it. I tried NESDS and it works, yet it squishes the screen to make it fit on the DS screen and sometimes that makes on screen text hard to read (like capital Bs look like Ds, and E looks like a C). Is there an emulator that will make the resolution look proper on a DS?

Has anybody ever had any luck getting a Neo Geo emulator/rom to work on a PSP?

The best racing game of all time is road-rash. Hands down, i know everyone is in agreement with me on this.

Is there a SNES emulator for PSP that can play Final Fantasy 3 at a playable speed? The game is annoyingly slow during battles.

I just upgraded my PSP's custom firmware to 5.50GEN-B and my SNES9X emulator stopped working (my Genesis and NES ones still work). Can somebody link me to a version of a SNES emulator for PSP that actually works on this version of the custom firmware?

I'm buying a PSP from my friend, its a PSP slim that's silver. Now, for those who run emulators and stuff on it I need to know. How easy/hard is it to put emulators on a PSP? I'm a total newb at this so don't spare any detail. I heard there's a way to do it without buying something called a pandora battery.

I probably should post that my genesis/megadrive sprite-editor is done... enough for other people to see.

you can get it here: link
As always, it's a work in progress.

Also I have a ym2612 patch-editor here: link

6:06 am - Neoflash price point

$149 for the Megadrive/Genesis cart. That seems kinda high to me. I would pay this for the SNES version though. Anyways, linky:

1:53 pm - Neoflash is almost ready with their flash carts

It's been a heck of a long wait, but it looks like final products are starting to appear over at Neoflash. Their Megadrive/Genesis multicart should be up for sale pretty soon. Presumably the SNES/N64/NES versions are also not far off.

I want to know if this sounds different in your sega-genesis emulator. ROM,MP3. I don't have a windows computer so I don't have too many emulators, if it sounds radically different in yours I'd like to know what emulator you used and if you could maybe even record the output. If it doesn't fucking work at all in your emulator I'd really like to know what emulator you are using. Thanks. I've tried genesyst and generator, myself.

11:59 pm - fucking beaver-snatch!

So just how many Z80 cycles are there for a scanline on an NTSC sega-genesis? I'm figuring for 254 but it sounds a little off.

Hey. So I'm working on this sprite-editor for the sega-genesis. Here's a screen-shot:

It to be released at blockparty/notacon. Here's the thing. You can change the background on it and I was thinking about releasing it with a sega-genesis-character/sprite collage as the built-in default background. I was wondering if anyone wants to make a background for it. You of course will be credited for it- or if you have any ideas of what would be a cool background. the windows that are on there are pretty much static. Also I am looking for a pixal-art logo design for it. It's called Mega-Happy-Sprite- I haven't created one yet. Your input is appreciated.

6:16 pm - MAME on different systems?

So, I have collected a massive massive collection of MAME roms for pc, but want to be able to play this in a mac. I know I need to get a new version of mame for mac, but do I need new roms as well or should that part not matter???

10:58 am - For you TI-99/4A, Coleco and other TMS9918 VDP afficionados

I have scanned the first 70 pages of Texas Instruments' SPPU004: Video Display Processors Programmer's Guide. This is everything up through Appendix D.

Omitted are Appendix E and Appendix F. Appendix E is about 26 pages of example programs written in 4 different assembly languages (6502, 8088, TMS7000, TMS9995). Appendix F is a sample font.

Find the scans here. I've also put a zip file here. I scanned this at 300dpi, so it isn't tiny. I did do some cleanup work too, so it should be fairly clean and easy to read.

Is installing emulators on a PSP easy to do? After I get paid I'm gonna buy one with a 1gb stick and put NES games on it.

I won't be buying it for any PSP games since most of them are lame and uninteresting to me.

12:33 am - Good emulators for Linux?

I've made the switch to Ubuntu, and I looked into Linux-compatible emulators a little bit, but not at great length.

I'm going to go with xMAME for the time being just to keep the transition smooth, but any other recommendations would be great.

Hey I'm new here, as well as to the whole emulation thing. I joined another ljcommunity that introduced me to emulators and my life hasn't been the same (in the what, 15 minutes I've known about them). I have a few questions. Are emulators free? Is there a catch? Are they worth it? I would love to be able to play the games I played when I was a kid, but I'm not sure about the whole thing. Can someone fill me in?
